ABOUT ME

ABOUT ME 2017-06-09T14:03:52+00:00

In addition to my degree in Modern Languages from the University of Aston, I have over 20 years’ experience and provide my clients with texts that read like the original.

I am a member of the world’s largest community of translators, ProZ.com and have helped other translators translate difficult terms in the fields of law and business, making me one the highest ranked translators on the site.

Having lived in both the UK and the USA, I have extensive knowledge of national legislation, standards and regulations, meaning that your texts are always perfectly adapted to the specific context and country of your clients.

My clients are my first priority, and you can always depend on me for a fast response to any query. I work alone, and never outsource my work to anyone.

I use the latest software and translation tools to make projects quick and easy for you, thereby reducing costs and time related to desktop publishing and editing. I use quality assurance software to ensure consistency between documents and projects.

I am committed to client confidentiality and non-disclosure. I am happy to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement upon request.

FAQ

Every document is different in terms of its complexity and language style, and therefore I cannot offer a simple formula to calculate the price of a specific translation. To calculate the price, it will cost for a job, I usually need to see the material. Most translation costs are based on a per-word rate and I use tools to calculate the number of words. If the document is in image format (JPG, TIF, BMP or PDF) it takes longer to edit, so I usually add a surcharge for these types of files. My quoted price includes translation, proofreading and quality control. Please contact me by email and send me the material to receive a quote. All translation inquiries are handled as quickly as possible.

A lot of work goes into the production of your original text, and it is not advisable to cut costs when that document is translated into another language. Translation mistakes can be damaging, both for your image and for your product. A high-quality translation by a specialised native speaker shows that you care about how your company is seen by others and can boost your credibility and image. I work only in those fields in which I am specialised. I have extensive knowledge not only of Spanish language and culture, but also of English and American language and culture. My goal is to provide translations that read as though they were originally written in the target language and culture. Translation is only part of a business relationship. Customer service is also important, and I always provide the best customer care. My clients recognise this and consider quality and professionalism worth paying for.

English is my native language and the only language I translate into. I believe that only a native speaker can offer the small details that make texts read like original texts. However, if you need something translating from English to Spanish, I have several trusted professional colleagues that I can refer you to.

I specialise in only one language combination and focus all my training and research on this language pair, which gives me an advantage in terms of my knowledge and expertise. After having lived for over 20 years in Spain, I have extensive knowledge and insight in both Spanish and English markets. I have worked in translation for over 20 years and during this time I have also studied both translation practice and theory. Not everyone who speaks two languages can translate well, and translation is best left to an experienced and professional translator. Getting translations right can lead to significant returns on your investment; getting it wrong can be a major disaster. When employing me, you can be sure that it is only me doing the translation and I understand your target audience and your texts perfectly.

If you need a quick translation just to understand the basic meaning, you can use an online translation tool, such as Google Translate. However, if you need to be sure you or the target reader understands the text and that it is ready for publication, then you should never rely on a translation tool, or machine translation. If you visit some of the machine-translated websites you will see some examples of very poor translations.
